DALLAS, Texas – AFC Victory Fund today announced its endorsement of Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson for governor, continuing its support for the Republican nominee after endorsing him for his successful primary campaign.
AFC Victory Fund endorsed Masterson in his primary election based on his solid pro-school choice record in the Kansas Legislature. Masterson went on to win the crowded primary by more than 20 percentage points.
Thanks to Masterson’s leadership, Kansas families are poised to benefit from the Education Freedom Tax Credit when it becomes active on January 1. Recent research by American Federation for Children Senior Fellow Dr. Patrick Graff estimates more than 93% of Kansas students would be eligible to receive scholarships to help them offset costs associated with attending the school of their choice.
Masterson spearheaded the veto override that will make EFTC scholarships available to Kansas families. Had the sitting governor’s veto remained in place, though Kansas taxpayers could still receive the tax credit, Kansas students would be barred from receiving the scholarships it funds.
