DALLAS, Texas – AFC Victory Fund today congratulated Mike Mazzei on his election as Oklahoma's next governor. AFC Victory Fund endorsed Mazzei ahead of the election, citing his commitment to protecting school choice and preserving educational options for families across the state.
Mazzei, a businessman and former state senator who chaired the Senate Finance Committee for a decade and later served as Oklahoma's Secretary of the Budget, has pledged to protect the state's Parental Choice Tax Credit. Serving more than 42,000 students this school year, the program provides refundable tax credits of $5,000 to $7,500 per eligible student for qualifying private school expenses.
Oklahoma is also positioned to benefit from the historic federal Education Freedom Tax Credit (EFTC), the current administration having already opted in ahead of the January 2027 launch. An estimated 89% of Oklahoma K–12 students will be eligible for EFTC scholarships. By annually opting in, Governor-elect Mazzei can ensure Oklahomans continue to benefit from this historic initiative, providing another source of scholarship support for families at no cost to the state budget.
Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, AFC Victory Fund:
“Congratulations to Governor-elect Mike Mazzei on his victory. Oklahoma families have access to educational opportunities that did not exist just a few years ago, and Mazzei has committed to protecting that access.
“As Oklahoma prepares for a new administration, families can rest assured that the governor-elect is committed to supporting educational freedom for students across the state. AFC Victory Fund congratulates Mike Mazzei and looks forward to working alongside him to achieve school choice for every Oklahoma family who wants it.”
