AFC Victory Fund Congratulates Attorney General Alan Wilson on South Carolina Gubernatorial Runoff Victory

DALLAS, Texas —  AFC Victory Fund today congratulated Attorney General Alan Wilson on winning South Carolina’s Republican gubernatorial primary runoff election.

Wilson advanced to the runoff after the June Republican primary and has been a strong supporter of school choice and expanding educational opportunities for South Carolina families. Throughout the campaign, Wilson expressed support for school choice and a commitment to building on the progress South Carolina has made in recent years.

South Carolina’s Education Scholarship Trust Fund (ESTF) program has provided thousands of students with access to educational options that better meet their individual needs. Demand for the popular program continues to exceed available capacity, leaving eligible families on a waitlist and underscoring the need for policymakers to expand access so more students can benefit.

Statement from Bill Phillips, National Director of Government Affairs, AFC Victory Fund

“South Carolina families want more educational opportunities for their children, and Alan Wilson’s victory ensures they will have a gubernatorial candidate on the ballot this November who understands the importance of school choice.

“The Education Scholarship Trust Fund has already helped thousands of students access learning environments that work best for them, as many more are left waiting in the wings. The ESTF waitlist demonstrates just how strong demand is for this program. No eligible family should be left waiting for access to an education option that meets their child's needs.

“We look forward to working with Wilson and other state leaders to build on the success of the ESTF program, address the growing waitlist, and ensure more families have access to the educational choices they deserve.”
