AFC Victory Fund Celebrates Sweeping Wins in Texas Primaries

Dallas, TX – AFC Victory Fund celebrates the primary election victories of school choice champions across Texas, sending an unmistakable message to lawmakers in every corner of the Lone Star State: Texas voters support candidates who support school choice. From the rural Panhandle, to suburban DFW, to south San Antonio, Tuesday night's results demonstrate school choice drives votes in every region of the state.

In November 2023, 21 House Republicans voted against school choice. By 2026, every anti-school choice member was either defeated by a pro-school choice challenger, retired and was replaced by a pro-school choice member, or reversed their position to reflect their constituents’ demands by supporting the Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) program.

AFC Victory Fund is proud to have supported the following pro-school choice candidates for the Texas House in their successful primary campaigns:

  • Chris Spencer – HD 1

  • Rocky Thigpen – HD 9

  • Angelia Orr – HD 13

  • Stan Gerdes – HD 17

  • Ray Callas – HD 21

  • Terri Leo Wilson – HD 23

  • Andy Hopper – HD 64

  • Holly Jeffreys – HD 86

  • Candy Noble – HD 89

  • David Lowe – HD 91

  • Alan Blaylock – HD 93

  • Jorge Borrego – HD 118

  • Marc LaHood – HD 121

  • Scott Bowen – HD 129

Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, AFC Victory Fund:

“Education freedom is not a niche issue. It is a statewide mandate. Voters in districts across the great state of Texas are demanding that their representatives fight for parents and families. Tuesday night's results show voters will take action at the ballot box if their elected officials fail to embody the will of the people.

"Tuesday’s results cement the school choice majority in the Texas House of Representatives. After electing the first pro-school choice majority in the chamber’s history in 2024, AFC Victory Fund demonstrated that school choice is here to stay, and candidates who oppose it will be shown the door.

"Our message to lawmakers is this: if you stand for school choice, voters, AFC Victory Fund, and our allies will stand with you. If you oppose voters’ will on education freedom, we will come for your seat, regardless of what district you represent. Tuesday, voters in communities across Texas backed candidates who are committed to protecting and expanding TEFA, and they rejected the idea that elected officials can afford to ignore the will of the families they serve.

"To every lawmaker in Texas and across the country watching the results of the 2026 primaries: the golden age of education has arrived. Get on board or get out of the way.”
