AFC Victory Fund Defeats Anti-School Choice Candidate Jody Barrett

AFC Victory Fund, a school choice Super PAC affiliated with the American Federation for Children, celebrates the defeat of anti-school choice state Rep. Jody Barrett (R-Dickson) in Tennessee’s 7th Congressional District primary Tuesday night. The special election will be held this December to fill the seat vacated by U.S. Rep. Mark Green this summer.

AFC Victory Fund and affiliated PACs spent more than $14 million in the 2023-24 election cycle at the state legislative level to defeat over 100 anti-school choice candidates and looks forward to continued success.

AFC Victory Fund also celebrates Matt Van Epps' victory. Van Epps, a vocal school choice champion, will now be in an even stronger position to advance opportunity for Tennessee families. Van Epps earned the endorsements of President Donald Trump, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, and retired Rep. Green.

Statement from Tommy Schultz, CEO, AFC Victory Fund:

“Tennessee parents spoke loud and clear at the ballot box tonight: if you interfere with their right to choose the best school for their child, they will show you the door. We at AFC Victory Fund celebrate with Tennesseans and Americans everywhere who are demanding educational freedom and holding their elected officials’ feet to the fire to deliver it. We congratulate Matt Van Epps on his victory, and we look forward to helping Tennessee’s Congressional delegation to continue to stand with parents and families.
